General Rules
No exploding targets or incendiary ammunition (tannerite, tracer rounds).
No shooting clay pigeons on the south-facing bays.
Direction of fire is always directly downrange — cross-range fire is prohibited.
Before going downrange, coordinate a cease fire with all shooters. Honor cease fires and do not handle guns while anyone is downrange.
Keep muzzles downrange or straight up. Never point firearms at anyone on or behind the line.
When a cease fire is called, make firearms safe:
- Semiauto: Remove mag, verify empty chamber, lock slide open.
- Bolt action: Remove mag, verify empty chamber, bolt open.
- Lever action: Empty magazine, verify empty chamber, lever down.
- Falling/Rolling block: Verify empty chamber, action open.
- Break barrel: Verify empty chamber, keep broken open.
- Revolvers: Verify empty cylinder; leave cylinder or loading gate open.
Do not handle firearms again until the range is clear and it’s safe to resume.
These are standard range rules. Practice and teach safe habits.
