Online Dispute Resolution (ODR)
Effective September 20, 2021, Iron County Justice Court small claims cases are handled through Online Dispute Resolution (ODR). See Standing Order No. 13 for details.
The Court has jurisdiction if the defendant resides in Iron County or if the debt arose here. For more information, visit the Utah Courts Small Claims site or consult an attorney. You may also review the Utah Rules of Civil Procedure.
Filing Limits & Fees
Small claims can be filed for actual damages up to $20,000.

$2,000 or less | $60 |
$2,001 – $7,500 | $100 |
$7,501 – $20,000 | $185 |
After the Affidavit and Summons is filed, the plaintiff must serve the defendant with notice of the suit and trial date, and provide proof of service at least 20 days before trial.

Filing a Case via ODR
Use the ODR Small Claims Affidavit & Summons to start your case. If no agreement is reached through facilitation, you’ll prepare for trial and receive a court date.
