
Voter Registration
Don’t wait until it’s too late. Learn eligibility, ID requirements, absentee voting, and how to track your ballot.
To obtain a copy of your voter registration card, please contact the Iron County Clerk’s Office.
You may register to vote in Utah if you are:
- At least 18 years old on or before the next election.
- A citizen of the United States.
- A resident of Utah for at least 30 days prior to the election. You are a resident if your principal place of residence is in Utah and you intend to remain here indefinitely.
Voter registration is valid for life, unless you:
- Move
- Change your name
- Change party affiliation

These are the requirements to be able to register to vote online:
- Requires a valid Utah Driver License
- Update voter registration or party affiliation
- Mark a ballot preference for partisan primary elections
- First, update your UT Driver's License address online at www.secure.utah.gov - there's no need to stand in line and it's free. (The address printed on your UT Driver's License/ID card does not need to match your voter registration address). It may take 24-48 hours before the new address is active.

Fifteen days or more before an election, a person may register to vote in person at the Iron County Clerk’s office. You will not be eligible to vote during early voting, but you will be able to vote on Election Day at your polling location.
You can also register to vote at the following agencies at least 30 days before an election:
- The Drivers License Division
- Division of Workforce Services
- Utah State Department of Health
- Women, Infant, & Children (WIC) Offices
- The Division of Services for People with Disabilities
- The Department of Rehabilitation
- Public Colleges & Universities
Identification Requirements
ONE form of photo ID with your name — or — TWO non‑photo IDs with your name that show your residence.
Accepted photo IDs include:
- Currently valid Utah driver license
- Currently valid ID issued by Utah or the U.S. government
- Currently valid Utah concealed carry permit
- Currently valid U.S. passport
- Valid tribal ID card (photo not required)
Or provide TWO of the following that show your name and residence:
- Current utility bill (within 90 days)
- Bank/financial statement
- Certified birth certificate
- Social Security card
- Government check
- Paycheck from employer
- Current Utah hunting/fishing license
- Current U.S. military ID
- Certified naturalization documents
- Certified court records (adoption/name change)
- Bureau of Indian Affairs or tribal treaty card
- Valid Medicaid/Medicare/EBT card
- Current local government, employer, or school ID (in Utah)
- Current Utah vehicle registration
Absentee Voting
Any registered voter may vote by absentee ballot.
Obtaining an absentee ballot
You may vote absentee by mail or in-person at the county clerk’s office. Submit applications to:
- General/Primary (even‑numbered years): file by mail or in person with your county clerk.
- Municipal (odd‑numbered years): file by mail or in person with your city clerk/recorder.
Deadlines
- In‑office absentee voting: apply and vote by the Friday before Election Day.
- Regular absentee application: received by the Friday before Election Day.
- Overseas voters: application received at least 20 days before Election Day.
Track your absentee ballot
Log in at vote.utah.gov with your voter information. Your current ballot status appears under your name.
Note: A ballot is valid only if clearly postmarked before Election Day and received by the county clerk before noon on the day of the official canvass.
Military/Overseas voters
Ballots are mailed 45 days prior to Election Day. Ballots must be postmarked or emailed to [email protected] no later than 8 PM (Utah local time) on Election Day.
