Stop the spread of noxious weeds in Iron County

We work with landowners, agencies, and residents to control and prevent invasive plants that threaten our lands and waters.

Cost Share Program

The county may assist private landowners with treatment depending on scope and staffing. Current rate: $40/hour + chemical.

Mission

The Iron County Noxious Weed Department enforces state and county weed laws, educates the public, and coordinates control efforts to protect agriculture, rangelands, and native ecosystems.

Duties under Utah law

Summary of the county weed control supervisor duties (Utah Code § 4-17-108).

Examine lands in Iron County for compliance with Utah’s Noxious Weed Act and rules.
Compile data on infested areas countywide.
Advise on best, practical methods for noxious weed control and prevention.
Render assistance and direction to achieve effective control and prevention.
Investigate violations of the Noxious Weed Act.
Enforce required weed controls within the county.
Perform other duties assigned by the County Weed Control Board.
